Amazon Robotics is on the lookout for Applied Science Interns and Co-ops who share our fascination for robotic research and cutting-edge algorithms. Our team works on high-stake, high-impact robotics projects. These projects range from resourcing the completion of millions of orders per day, coordinating thousands of robots, autonomous warehouse navigation, object and damage identification, to learning ways to handle every product sold by Amazon. As an Applied Science Intern/Co-op at Amazon Robotics, you may be assigned to one or multiple projects focusing on technologies such as autonomous mobile robots, robot manipulators, and computer vision identification technologies. The details of your project(s) and location of your internship/co-op will depend on the team you will be joining. It should be noted that by submitting your application for this role, you may be considered for Applied Scientist summer intern, spring co-op, and fall co-op roles across various Amazon Robotics teams. These teams invest their efforts in robotics research within various fields such as computer vision, machine learning, robotic manipulation, navigation, path planning, perception, optimization, and more. To learn more about Amazon Robotics, visit: https://amazon.jobs/en/teams/amazon-robotics We can accommodate applicants in any one of the following locations: North Reading, MA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA | Westborough, MA, USA Basic Qualifications: - Currently enrolled in a US-based PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field - Expected graduation date of December 2024 or later - Availability for a full-time internship (40 hours per week) for the entire duration of the internship/co-op - At least 1 year of practical academic research or industry experience in Robotics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Optimization, Manipulation, Perception, Motion Planning and Controls, Autonomous Navigation, Path Planning or a similar field - Experience in Java, C++, Python, or related programming languages - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to different audiences Preferred Qualifications: - Publication(s) in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals - Ability to develop system prototypes - Proven ability to work in collaborative and cross-functional teams - Determination to bring a research concept to a working prototype - Strong algorithm development experience - Good understanding of algorithm analysis and computational complexity - Familiarity with the latest algorithms in your field of expertise - Outstanding creative problem-solving skills Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The compensation packages for this position reflect labor costs across several US geographic markets, with base pay ranging from $65.68/hr in our lowest market up to $106.83/hr in our highest. Pay varies based on a variety of factors, which might include market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon believes in total compensation.
