Job Description

The Primary responsibility of the Machine Vision Specialist is to create, complete, or optimize vision system recipes for inspecting pharmaceutical injectable medicines. The Secondary responsibility is to work with COC on Artificial Intelligence technologies and custom vision applications. Other duties include machine installations, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, modification, particle sensor parameter setup, and support of other types of pharmaceutical packaging and inspection equipment within the inspection division.

Responsibilities include:

  • Approximately 75% domestic and occasional international travel to support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers at Syntegon facilities in Japan, Germany, or Denmark.
  • Being the primary engineer for performing vision tuning, and instructing new engineers on tuning standards.
  • Working with COC on Artificial Intelligence integration, and working on vision integrations.
  • Performing machine installation and supporting customers with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Guiding customers to provide the correct samples to develop machine vision recipes and achieve defect detection targets with minimal false rejection of acceptables.
  • Training customer staff on the operation and maintenance of inspection, packaging and assembly machine.
  • Performing customer on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of machine issues, both mechanical and electrical in nature.
  • Maintaining regular communication with customers to ensure the proper function and satisfaction of machines.
  • Teaching vision training classes, both at the office and at customer's site.
  • Performing PC repairs and upgrades, both at the office and at the customer's site.
  • Providing troubleshooting phone support on machine operational issues.
  • Generating service visit summaries and technical reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science/Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of one year of application experience using Vision Systems, Halcon or Cognex preferred.
  • Driver’s License
  • Ability to acquire a passport

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift items up to 30 pounds, maneuver equipment for placement, and to bend down and work within lower areas of machine
  • Overtime and occasional weekend work/travel

Travel Requirements

  • 75% overnight travel, largely in North America; and occasional international travel

Additional Information

The expected compensation range for this position is between $65,000-$95,000 based on a full-time schedule. Compensation at Syntegon varies depending on non-discriminatory factors such as the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
