IT Concepts is seeking an experienced IT Data Scientist to assist in our engagement with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS needs contractor support to streamline procedures, boost capabilities through automated processes and tools, and heighten awareness and operational efficiencies. This position will be primarily remote and conditional on contract award.

Responsibilities:

As the IT Data Scientist assisting the IRS, you will help our client solve their most challenging issues and realize their vision. Reporting to the Project/Program Manager, you will be responsible for analyzing, and interpreting complex data sets to derive key insights for decision making and to optimize IRS operations. This role involves using statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualization techniques to boost efficiencies and improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Lead efforts in data collection, development, analysis, and visualization
  • Collect and analyze large and diverse data sets using appropriate analytical tools and methods
  • Create informative and visually attractive dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate data findings and insights to stakeholders
  • Lead the creation of metrics and measures
  • Guarantee data visualizations are accessible and easy to understand by both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Identify opportunities to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with teams to implement data-driven solutions and recommendations

Location: Although the headquarters are in New Carrollton, MD, remote work within the United States is possible.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to acquire IRS Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of experience as a data analyst/scientist or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in data manipulation, data cleaning, and data transformation techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy in data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze data, across various functions, multiple systems, and internal and external sources
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently if necessary
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Devotion to continuous learning and keeping up-to-date on emerging trends and technologies in data analysis and visualization

Preferred

  • Experience with IRS policies, regulations, and procedures is a plus
  • Has Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) Clearance
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
