About the role:
Reporting directly to the Director of Business Intelligence, the successful candidate will employ advanced analytics, reporting, and data visualization to give our business and our products a competitive edge. Responsibilities include understanding and managing the data and how it interconnects, as well as structuring data for self-serve BI and BA opportunities. This role calls for someone who is business-oriented, experienced with data modeling, data analysis, data visualization, and enjoys process framing, solution shaping & creation, and facilitating implementation.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, a critical thinker, and highly interested in applying new data analysis and data visualization technologies and methods to address key business questions.
Location, travel, and in-office requirements:
AlayaCare supports a flexible hybrid working model, suggesting that our employees maintain a regular in-office presence based in their nearest office while providing the flexibility for some remote work. Our team encourages in-person collaboration and as such, the preferred candidate location for this position would be within the Greater Toronto Area or the Greater Montreal Area.
Some out-of-town travel may be required (-5% of the time) for quarterly planning or finance team events/summits.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Automating report creation for the management team and the board of directors
- Extracting, transforming, and loading data from multiple sources
- Developing scalable and reusable data models
- Ensuring accuracy and reliability of data, sourced from our different platforms (e.g. HubSpot, NetSuite, Zendesk, Jira, etc.)
- Designing and implementing accessible, high-impact visualizations that clearly communicate results, elucidate patterns, promote accountability, generate actionable insights, and facilitate decision making
- Supporting integration of event tracking data from multiple platforms
- Producing technical and user documentation
- Delivering concise and meaningful reporting to cross-functional teams
- Leading, planning and executing BI projects to meet business objectives
- Designing, building and deploying powerful BI solutions as per business requirements
- Generating insights & presenting effective data-driven business recommendations to various stakeholders
- Supporting business units in making informed decisions and understanding the “what” and “why” via data analysis and visual storytelling
- Implementing BI leading practices throughout the project lifecycle
- Highlighting the business data needed to produce the most insightful future analytics
- Providing end-user training on BI tools and data models, empowering business users to analyze available data and create their own dashboards
- Keeping abreast of current and upcoming technologies and tools
- Handling escalations from business departments or from junior colleagues when necessary
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or completion of other post-secondary education with a mix of relevant experience
- 4+ years of experience in BI development, data modeling, and dashboard development
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with SQL
- In-depth understanding of key data modeling concepts such as dimensions, measures, aggregation, cardinality, etc.
- Familiarity with Looker and Snowflake
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience with ETL Jobs
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing to collaborate, communicate, and story-tell across various levels (both technical and non-technical), including executive and senior leadership teams
- Proficiency in statistical programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SAS) is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of Azure DevOps, Git Hub repository, and other DevOps tools is desirable
- An ability to translate complex analytical results into actionable business initiatives and reports

- Business-oriented with a solid understanding of business requirements and vernacular in one or more of the following domains: Sales & Marketing, Finance, Customer Success and/or Software Development
- Bilingualism in French and English would be a definite advantage
