What’s the role?
In the role of Senior Data Scientist in Payments Buyer Experience, you will play a pivotal role in forming the data-driven strategy of Etsy Payment’s Buyer Experience. This role will involve generating and managing key data reports that provide insight into relevant metrics. The incumbent will work closely with other leaders in the Payments division and will have the opportunity to shape Etsy's future roadmap. Use of A/B testing to evaluate the success of product launches is vital in this role. We are looking for someone who can evaluate complex opportunities, develop robust data reporting tools, and communicate these topics with enthusiasm. This is a full-time role based within the Senior Manager of Payments and Finance Analytics team. The base salary range is between $130,000 and $168,000 USD annually. Besides salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires you to work from Etsy’s Brooklyn office either in-person or flexibly. Candidates living within commuting distance of the Brooklyn Hub may be considered first. What’s this team like at Etsy?
The Payments and Finance Analytics team, known informally as Money Analytics, is dedicated to leveraging data science and analytics to generate significant insights, including understanding the intricacies of Etsy’s payment processing data and its interactions with our financial systems, constructing reliable data sources that intertwine complex payments data and foundational data from across the Etsy ecosystem, and identifying and advocating for exceptional opportunities for Etsy’s growth that impact critical metrics.
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Monitor and supervise the progress of A/B experiments
- Evaluate data and results from tests and enquiries to determine follow-up actions
- Develop basic scripts using SQL and database skills
- Create regular reports and analyses to highlight opportunities and trends from internal and external data sources
- Create excellent dashboards and visualizations using Looker
Qualifications
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
- 4+ years of experience as a data scientist or data analyst, independently interpreting large data sets with minimal engineering support
- Proficient in SQL and either R or Python
- Proficient understanding of experimentation theory and practice
