Summary IO Global (IOG), the creator of the Cardano blockchain platform, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist, preferably with a background in Decentralized Finance (DeFi). IOG is developing a new venture combining crypto/Web3/DeFi innovations with traditional finance (TradFi) intended to improve the transparency, efficiency, and accessibility of borrowing and lending services. The project aims to establish a marketplace for globally syndicating tokenized debt assets in a fully regulated manner, initially focusing on Africa, yet with global applicability in mind. In its incubation phase within IOG, you will support the venture's establishment. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will use your expertise from financial/DeFi sector and big data projects to gather, clean, interpret, and analyze data from various sources. Duties - Collect and clean (financial) data from various sources. - Use statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze data and identify trends and patterns. - Construct predictive models. - Clearly and concisely communicate findings, including visualizations and reports. - Deploy models for credit decision-making purposes, and monitor model performance for adjustments. - Stay up-to-date on the latest trends. Requirements Key Competencies - Proficiency in statistical analysis, experience with time series databases, and systems with stochastic properties. - A strong interest in developments within blockchain and cryptocurrency technology. - Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision. - Demonstrated ability to independently complete and deliver end-to-end projects. - Ability to take responsibility and lead small projects. - Team player with excellent communication skills. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Education / Experience - Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative/technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, etc. - At least 5 years of experience with statistical analysis, programming, and machine learning. - Experience working with fundamentally stochastic systems and/or systems where hazards and risks are integral to system operation and reporting. - Proven experience with natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), time series analysis, programming in Python, R, and SQL. - Knowledge of functional programming, preferably Haskell, and numerical math libraries is a plus. - Familiarity with distributed computing and blockchain technologies is a plus. - Professional experience in the financial services sector, specifically with Credit and/or Alternative Credit industry, is a plus.
