Relay is a delivery network specifically designed to accommodate the needs of e-commerce, providing warehouse-to-doorstep delivery services. We assist major retailers within the UK (and eventually, globally) to deliver products faster, more affordably, and more sustainably compared to existing alternatives.
Our success is rooted in our ability to collect, organise, analyse, and act on the abundant data our operations produce daily. To maximize our network's efficiency, it's crucial to maintain visibility across all aspects of Relay - from the growth and effectiveness of our courier fleet to our parcel sorting process, amongst others.
We are currently seeking an exceptional analytics engineer to assist in building our data foundations. Responsibilities in this role will include:
- Working closely with engineers and business leaders to design Relay's core data models
- Owning Relay’s data infrastructure, which includes our dbt deployment, ETL process, and data catalogue
- Collaborating with team members throughout all functional areas and business sectors within Relay
- Regularly spending time on the field to understand how your data models align with the actual experiences of our couriers and end-users
Requirements:
You may be the right fit for this role if:
- You have built and maintained the core data models (via dbt or other orchestration tools) for rapidly expanding or highly operational businesses
- You are comfortable working across data stacks. You can balance technical and business needs with an understanding of the stack
- You are proactive, take ownership of your work and seek impactful opportunities
- You empathize with individuals whose behavior and success your work helps measure, such as customers, partners and colleagues. You strive to collect their feedback and incorporate it into your work
- You are eager to learn new quantitative methods, technologies, and problem domains
- You value and practice clear communication, active listening, and intentional collaboration
We are seeking candidates who:
- Have experience and comfortability working with dbt
- Have a minimum of four years' experience on high-performing data-driven teams
- Possess a degree (bachelor's or master's) in a quantitative field like statistics, physics, mathematics, economics, or computer science.
