Snapshot The role of the Research Scientist is to develop cutting-edge methods for sequence modeling and audio generation. The Research Scientist will apply these methods to various generative AI challenges such as neural audio coding, speech synthesis and multimodal large language models. The Role Research Scientists at Google DeepMind lead our efforts in developing novel algorithmic architecture with the ultimate goal of creating and solving for Artificial General Intelligence. Having pioneered research in the world's leading academic and industrial laboratories, PhDs, post-docs or professorships, Research Scientists join Google DeepMind to work collaboratively within and across research fields. They develop solutions to fundamental questions in machine learning and AI. Drawing on expertise from a variety of disciplines including deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, language, neuroscience, safety, control, robotics and multi-agent, our Research Scientists are at the forefront of groundbreaking research. Key responsibilities: - Design, implement, and evaluate state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms for sequence modeling and generation. - Report and present research findings and developments clearly and efficiently both internally and externally, verbally and in writing. - Encourage and participate in team collaborations to meet ambitious research goals. - Work in collaboration with our Ethics and Governance teams to ensure our advancements in intelligence are developed ethically and offer broad benefits to humanity. About you To prepare you for success as a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience: - PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience. - Experience in Machine Learning Algorithms/Research and Language Modeling. - Experience with publications (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ICASSP, INTERSPEECH, ACL). - Proficiency in Python and related ML frameworks (Jax, Tensorflow) Additionally, the following would be beneficial: - Experience with audio generation e.g. audio coding, speech synthesis, speech translation, speech enhancement, etc. - A real passion for AI!
