We are consistently expanding and are currently in search of a professional Geospatial Data Scientist to join our UniQue Ispra team. In this position, you will have the chance to work directly with our clients in the public sector. Your responsibilities will include the discovery of profitable opportunities that will contribute to the development of new business, the management of your client portfolio through the establishment of firm, lasting relationships, and the monitoring of project progress. Your main goal will be to deliver exceptional client service and value-added services. Your tasks will include: - Crafting data processing workflows that aid in the restoration of agroecosystems - Developing and testing diverse processing chains to link and visualize geospatial datasets - Quantifying biodiversity-related indicators - Analyzing data with a focus on agroecosystems' ecological status - Conducting analysis on geospatially gridded data detailing the ecological condition of agroecosystems (e.g., bird data, soil, nitrogen surplus, pesticides, etc.) - Organizing and building geospatial databases in the BDAP for automated computation and analysis - Creating technical documentation - The contracted expert is expected to develop, test, and launch new geospatial datasets and indicators - This processing chain should have the capability to run sensitivity analysis in determining critical thresholds for indicator values - Running multivariate analysis on various ecosystem degradation drivers - Extracting relevant metrics from primary data - Creating all necessary documentation on data analysis, which includes the code and a user manual (in English) Requirements What is required for success in this role? - Practical experience in handling geospatial data - Solid knowledge and proven experience in: - GIS software and tools - R - Past experience with geospatial and ecological analysis - Advanced hands-on experience with Python and related libraries for geospatial development - Execution of geospatial processing and analysis tools - Strong knowledge of spatially enabled relational database systems, particularly PostgreSQL and PostGIS - Proficiency in the English language.
