Job Description
AECOM is searching for a qualified Lead Airside Design Engineer to become part of our Canadian team.
As part of our team, your duties are as follows:
- Assist or serve as the lead pavement engineer and/or project overseer for airside pavement engineering and/or pavement management projects.
- Provide guidance through supervising and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Give suitable feedback and instructions to team members as well as necessary updates to clients.
- Execute project schedules, budgets, and targets.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings.
- Plan, execute, and assess pavement evaluations and studies.
- Compose and review/approve reports and specs, and present them.
- Prepare technical reports, including specifications, pavement design reports.
- Complete Pavement Condition Index (PCI), assess airside pavement varieties, and carry out restoration.
- Set design parameters and perform detailed design for civil works associated with runways, taxiways, and aprons, and aircraft holding and deicing bays.
- Support other Project Managers in preparing onsite documentation and organizing field operations.
- Create staging / phasing plans for pavement construction and coordinate with the airport operations crew / Transport Canada, as necessary.
- Perform quality control/quality assurance duties on fieldwork, data analysis and interpretation, and engineering calculations.
- Review pavement engineering exam, designs, data analysis, and reports.
- Aid other team members in proposal preparation and expression of interest, considering the potential project’s methodology.
- Perform other onsite and/or offsite tasks, as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with 8 years accumulative experience in airfield engineering design.
- Registered Professional Engineer status or eligibility within 18 months.
- Valid full passenger-vehicle driver’s license in the associated province.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree focused on Pavement Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Preferably 12+ years' experience in airfield engineering design.
- Familiarity with and experience of airfield pavement, drainage, grading design, material specification and upkeep.
Additional Information
- The compensation offered will depend on individual education, provable skills, experience, and work location. The range for this position is typically between $120,000 - $150,000. Please note that this position can be based anywhere in Canada and compensation will differ for each location.
