Senior Data Engineer

Mine Tech Services (MTS) is a fast-expanding mining consultancy based in the UK and Ukraine. Our diverse team is comprised of engineers, data scientists and developers, who all take pride in our efforts to resolve critical global commodity production challenges in a sustainable manner. We are currently in the process of recruiting a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. The successful applicant should have several years of experience with BI platforms, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Platform, and GDP. We will provide training and mentorship to enhance the chosen individual's understanding of our business applications. The hired individual's responsibilities will include: - Developing high-quality database solutions (mainly focusing on MS SQL Server). - Development, implementation, and optimization of stored procedures, functions, and ETL processes. - Conducting analysis and solving problems of existing SQL-based solutions for performance improvement. - Using Google BigQuery to process and analyze large datasets, and optimizing queries for performance. - Expertise in creating data transformation pipelines using DBT. - Developing procedures and scripts for data transformation and migration. - Planning the architecture and strategy for future development. - Drafting new technical briefs and providing informative solutions for stakeholders. - Providing technical leadership on projects, having ownership of engineering scopes, testing documentation, and coordinating with the Project Manager on the work breakdown scheme in Jira where needed. Required skills and relevant experience: Technical Skills & Knowledge - 3+ years of experience with DWBI/ETL. - Experience with SQL Server and creating Stored Procedures/Functions (T-SQL). - Profound experience in SQL performance tuning and server administration. - Google BigQuery experience (DBT experience is a plus). - Understanding of Azure Delta Lake. - Grasp of the requirements of data structures for Business Intelligence reporting, including Tableau and Microsoft Power BI. - Excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex technical information to stakeholders of all levels. - Experience with Jira or similar project management tools. Personal Skills & Knowledge - A tech-oriented individual with a keen interest in using systems and data to resolve operational issues. - Understanding of the mining industry, or an eagerness to learn in order to serve our clients better. - Interest in finding innovative yet practical solutions to complex challenges. - Passion for working in a dynamic setting that combines technology, software, and large mining equipment. - Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English (B2 level). - Good listening skills, as the role involves a consultancy aspect. - Willingness to travel periodically, often to remote locations around the world.
