Kodiak was established in April 2018 with the aim to develop autonomous technology to move freight forward, benefiting its people, partners, and the planet. We recognize that highway conditions present uniquely different challenges than those in urban streets. Kodiak's expert team has engineered the industry's most sophisticated technology stack specifically built for long-haul trucks. From our sensor fusion system that enhances the value of every sensing mode, to our innovative lightweight mapping solution allowing our trucks to navigate changing highway construction zones, our elite team of industry pioneers is bringing the advantages of autonomy to the $800B annual trucking industry swiftly, safely, and effectively.
We are seeking a highly proficient Computer Vision intern to join our team to address real-world robotics challenges.
In this role, you will:
- Design machine learning algorithms and implement them in robust, efficient, and thoroughly-tested C++ and/or Python code.
- Lead the development of deep neural networks to solve real-world robotics issues, such as lane detection, object identification and classification, sensor fusion, tracking, prediction, anomaly detection, and planning.
- Work with data from cameras, lasers, radars, and ultrasound devices, as well as curate datasets for machine learning.
- Establish automated training pipelines and create data analysis instruments to constantly improve our performance on an expanding dataset.
Qualifications:
- Strong technical background. Currently, you are pursuing an MS or Ph.D., and have hands-on experience designing and implementing deep neural networks. Exceptional candidates pursuing a BS are considered. You are a skilled software engineer with experience in C++. You are passionate about solving real-world robotics problems, having preferably worked on autonomous robots before. Ideally, you also have a solid understanding of data processing pipelines for training ML models in the cloud.
- A team player. You take responsibility for your work and collaborate with the team to deliver exceptional results. You are keenly interested in the system's overall performance across all engineering disciplines.
- Ability to build and iterate quickly. You enjoy working swiftly and intelligently, and are comfortable in the early stages of developing an algorithm from scratch.
- Hands-on. You are experienced working with production machine learning pipelines, from dataset collection and labeling to training and validation.
