Cloud Engineer Role

As a Cloud Engineer at Lilly, you will ensure the availability and quality of data necessary for analysis and business transactions. This role involves data integration, acquisition, cleansing, harmonizing, and transforming raw data into curated datasets for data science, data discovery, and business intelligence/analytics. You'll collaborate closely with Data Architects and Data Scientists, as well as business and IT groups, to process raw datasets into analytics-ready, integrated datasets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose innovative business solutions using emerging technologies like AI/ML, MLOps, and Analytics.
  • Develop proofs of concept for high-priority use cases leveraging AI/ML for business simplification and automation.
  • Expertise in Prompt Engineering to build Large Language Models (LLMs) aligning with business needs.
  • Manage data acquisition, preparation, and publishing to create meaningful data products.

Preferred Technologies

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or equivalent work experience. Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of hands-on experience in:

  • Application development using programming languages like Python, R, Pyspark, Node.js
  • Development and deployment of cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS services like EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, and more.
  • SQL and DBMS concepts
  • Handling large datasets and data model creation
  • Using code versioning tools such as Github, SVN, or Bitbucket
  • Natural Language Processing and Generation

Desired Experience

Preferred candidates will have experience in machine learning applications, working in regulated environments, and familiarity with API and Microservice concepts. Previous pharmaceutical or healthcare industry exposure, agile methodologies, coding standards, and technical leadership are also highly valued.

Business Analysis and Technical Leadership

  • Engage with business partners to deliver value and translate needs into technical terms.
  • Define requirements and ensure appropriate business roles are engaged.
  • Participate in design reviews, network with IT colleagues, and seek opportunities to reuse existing processes.
  • Stay updated on tools and technologies to influence IT strategy for optimal business usage.
  • Work with vendors to ensure understanding of technical direction and delivery.

Note:

Cloud Engineer roles require fundamental skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, solution definition, business acumen, architectural processes, technical standards, project delivery, and industry knowledge. Knowledge of the clinical domain is highly desirable.
