ThunderFire Division of NetEase Games (Montreal) is an integral part of NetEase Games, a renowned game developer and publisher delivering high-quality gaming experiences. To accelerate our growth in Canada, we are actively building an analytics team. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of a team creating, defining, and executing within a company, impacting a new intellectual property.
The role of the Principal Analytics Engineer is to develop, manage, and monitor data transformation pipelines for the games supported by the Analytics team as well as for internal projects. You will apply best practices in analytics engineering to build sustainable, scalable data transformation processes and monitor their quality. You will work closely with data analysts to meet their needs and establish rigorous processes to monitor the performance of data transformation, scalability, and data quality.
You will:
- Build and maintain cutting-edge data transformation pipelines to create reporting models ready for analysis and visualization.
- Develop data transformation and quality control processes to ensure reliable and consistent access to the latest data for stakeholders and team members.
- Implement data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Support multiple data pipelines for game projects in parallel.
- Research opportunities to improve insights provided by the analytics team.
- Stay informed about trends and best practices in game data analytics.
- Mentor junior or mid-level team members.
You are a good match if you have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as business intelligence, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, preferably in the gaming industry.
- Deep knowledge of data analysis and transformation tools (SQL, dbt).
- Experience with Python is a strong asset.
- Experience in data modeling (Kimball dimensional modeling, Data Vault, etc.).
- Knowledge of data visualization techniques and tools such as Sigma, Tableau, etc., is a plus.
- Good understanding of the video game industry and production cycles is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage various stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
