Job Summary

The Early Innovation & Partnerships in Automation and Digital at Tetra Pak is looking for an Artificial Intelligence Intern to join the team. As an AI Research Intern, you will play a crucial role in advancing our manufacturing processes through cutting-edge research. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore the potential of applying multimodal solutions to enhance efficiency and quality across our production lines.

The Early Innovation & Partnership team leads exploration activities, scouting and consolidating new technologies available in the market to further improve performance, quality, and sustainability of current and future Tetra Pak equipment.

What You Will Do

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work in the following areas:

  • Conduct research on multimodal data (e.g., visual, sensor, text) collected from manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze various non-ML software elements involving data quality and data preparation.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Experiment with new multimodal capabilities for Machine Learning models developed for process control and defect detection.

We Believe You Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with PyTorch or another major deep learning framework such as TensorFlow or JAX.
  • Strong programming skills – knowledge of programming languages like Python and familiarity with NVIDIA GPUs and the software stacks that optimize them.
  • Experience or familiarity with Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and related software concepts.
  • Considerable experience with Deep Learning applications:
    • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of deep learning (layer details, backpropagation, batch normalization, etc.).
    • Ability to read and implement related academic literature and experience in applying state-of-the-art deep learning models for computer vision.
  • Significant experience in GPU performance profiling. Knowledge of CUDA is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HW (Hardware) architecture (ideally accelerators), numerical software, DL (Deep Learning) inference, deployment, model conversion topics (e.g., Torch Script, Torch Trace, ONNX, TensorRT/TRT).
  • Fluency in English and Italian, both written and spoken.
  • Capability to work independently, take initiative, and make technical decisions in your area of expertise.
