About the Role: AI Tutor in Chemical/Materials Science

Take the lead in shaping the future of AI as an AI Tutor specialized in Chemical/Materials Science. Your role will be crucial in advancing AI's understanding of chemical and material science, contributing to areas such as materials design, drug discovery, and chemical synthesis. Using RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) techniques, you'll foster models that reason, predict, and innovate optimally within these scientific domains.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Educate AI: Analyze and offer feedback on AI outputs related to chemical reactions, molecular structures, material properties, and synthesis pathways, directly enhancing the AI's real-world accuracy.
  • Problem Solving: Employ your expertise to solve complex chemical and materials science problems, such as designing experiments, optimizing reactions, predicting material behavior, and analyzing spectroscopic data.
  • Red Teaming: Use your deep field knowledge to identify and address potential biases, limitations, and inaccuracies in the AI's understanding, ensuring reliable and practical outputs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's degree, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of core concepts in chemistry and/or materials science.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly convey complex scientific information.
  • Experience with data analysis, modeling, or simulation in a chemical or materials science context is advantageous.
  • A passion for advancing AI and its applications in scientific discovery.

Compensation

Rate per hour: $15—$60 USD

Work Model

Excel in our remote-friendly hybrid model. While we value the flexibility of remote work, we emphasize collaboration through our tech hubs in San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro Area, and Wrocław, Poland. We support asynchronous communication, autonomy, and task ownership, complemented by periodic in-person meetings.
