The Detroit Labs is seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer for an exciting project with an existing client advancing revolutionary automotive technology. In this role, you will be integral in developing and improving AI-powered solutions. Your main responsibility will include designing, implementing, and optimizing question and answer models that draw valuable insights from large datasets. As a full-time member of our OnSite Business Unit team, we prioritize your individual career growth providing optional check-in support, yearly retrospectives, and access to a variety of learning resources to ensure your continuous growth and achievement of your goals.
This is a full-time salaried hybrid role located in Auburn Hills, MI. You must be able to work in the office at least 2 days a week.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in Machine Learning, AI, and Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Hands-on experience with Google Vertex AI, Google BERT, and other Google AI tools for building transformer-based question and answer (Q&A) models is necessary
- Experience with training and fine-tuning models, preferably on Google Cloud TPUs
- Proficient in loading content, implementing content restrictions, and directing AI systems to provide exact answers to questions while continuously learning from user interactions and responses
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and relevant machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, , etc.)
- Experience in monitoring and optimizing deployed models, preferably using Google Cloud Monitoring
- Experience in developing evaluation metrics and conducting testing to assess model performance
- Knowledge of grounding language models in context for coherent and relevant text generation
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
- Problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively for developing innovative AI solutions
- Must be able to work in a hybrid model in Auburn Hills up to 2 days per week
- Detroit Labs is currently unable to hire candidates who will reside outside of the United States during their employment term.
Responsibilities
- Utilize your AI and machine learning expertise to build transformer-based Q&A models using Google BERT, T5, Vertex AI, and other Google AI services
- Train and fine-tune models on Google Cloud TPUs for faster experimentation
- Use Tensorflow and PyTorch for building deep learning Q&A models
- Deploy models on Google Cloud Endpoints, integrate with Android/iOS apps, and optimize using Google Cloud Monitoring
- Curate and preprocess datasets for training, configuring, and monitoring to ensure models evolve
- Develop evaluation metrics and conduct rigorous testing to assess model performance
- Identify opportunities to leverage Google AI services like Language API, Dialogflow, etc.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality/availability and integrate Q&A models
- Ground language models in context by developing strategies to maintain coherence and relevance in generated text
- Stay updated on Google AI research and new product announcements in Q&A and Natural Language Processing field
