Position: Analytics Engineer

Klaviyo is actively seeking an Analytics Engineer to join our growing R&D team. Data is at the core of who we are as a company. You will play a crucial role in data engineering, ensuring scalable, compliant, and efficient data practices, while deriving insights through analysis. Our team collaborates closely with product managers and engineers, aiming to serve the needs of customers within specific product areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Build new production datasets in SQL (DBT) to enhance data availability and accessibility, using window functions, conditional logic, JSON parsing, dynamic SQL, advanced data cleaning, and performant lineages/tasks.
  • Manage an internal analytics platform (Shiny-Server on AWS Ubuntu) to streamline data workflows for internal R&D consumption.
  • Ensure smooth management of data systems with robust testing and validation to minimize disruptions and downtime.
  • Enable efficient data processing and analysis according to company needs, including some ad-hoc analyses.
  • Understand North Star metrics and analytics use-cases to facilitate effective conversations with product area leads.
  • Develop robust, consistent, and future-proof data solutions.
  • Own the data roadmap for new product areas, aligning with long-term vision support.
  • Advocate for efficient automation and tooling development to improve team productivity.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in data engineering, specifically in SQL, data warehouses, and object-oriented programming languages (Python/R).
  • Knowledge of data engineering best practices, including data discovery, data documentation, infrastructure development/deployment, and information security.
  • Value the importance of a well-designed, future-proof data environment; a creator at heart.
  • Systematic thinker, enjoying solving creative technical problems and collaborating closely with a team.
  • Able to diagnose key data trends, interpret the root cause of variances, and proactively surface important trends to product area leads.
  • Bias towards learning and constant iteration.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or another quantitative field.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure/dev ops (AWS, Airflow, Terraform, Github CLI).
  • Experience with Analytics Platform development.
  • Experience with datasets for SaaS or web-based technologies.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages for Rest APIs/JDBC.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range for this role is $112,000—$168,000 USD. Sales roles are also eligible for variable compensation, and hourly non-exempt roles are eligible for overtime as per applicable laws.
