We’re currently seeking an innovative Applied Scientist for our Buyer Abuse team, focused on fusing advanced analytics with investigative insights to strengthen our fraud prevention mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

As an Applied Scientist in BRP, you will tackle complex modeling challenges, uncover deep insights, and develop state-of-the-art risk algorithms to detect and mitigate instances of abuse. Your efforts will directly influence Amazon’s operational efficiency by:

  • Developing and deploying machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Building prototypes and exploring new solutions.
  • Designing experiments to validate hypotheses and sharing findings with Product and Technical teams.
  • Managing the impact of ML solutions on both Amazon’s resources and customer experience.
  • Creating efficient data querying infrastructure for varied applications.
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to refine automation processes.
  • Navigating Amazon’s vast data resources to drive your analyses.
  • Researching and applying novel ML and statistical techniques.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation and presenting your results in a clear and compelling manner.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or another quantitative field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in algorithm implementation and ML model development.
  • Publication record in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
