Position Description:

As a Data Scientist intern at Microsoft, you will dive into solving problems with predefined algorithms and rich data sources. Your role will involve understanding product functionality from the customer's point of view, using data exploration to uncover new queries or opportunities, and applying insights to influence product improvements. Responsibilities:

- Gain a thorough understanding of a broad set of research techniques and share findings with the team.

- Follow guidance from senior team members to research tools and technologies utilized in the industry.

- Support the team environment by adopting and promoting best practices, developing professional relationships, and identifying talent for Microsoft's research initiatives.

- Assist senior members with project documentation and adhere to ethical and privacy standards in research processes.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science.
• Currently pursuing an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Data Science or a related field with relevant internship experience.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, classical Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications.
• Minimum 3 semesters remaining until graduation (January 2026 or later).

Preferred:

• Experience in Cloud environments and deep learning frameworks like Pytorch.
• Publications in recognized ML/NLP/data mining conferences or journals.
• Prior experience as an ML or MLOps Engineer.
