We are pleased to announce the opening for a full-time tenure stream faculty position as the Assistant Professor - Edwin S.H. Leong Chair in Data Science for Child Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. This prestigious position, in partnership with the Hospital for Sick Children, aims to advance research and innovation in child health equity.

About the Role

The selected candidate will lead data science research initiatives aiming to address health inequities affecting children. This role involves a potential appointment at the Child Health Evaluative Sciences Program at the Research Institute at the Hospital for Sick Children, further strengthening our interdisciplinary research efforts.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. Eligible fields include but are not limited to applied mathematics, economics, statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, informatics, computer science, and engineering. A proven track record of high-impact research, international publications, and teaching excellence is required. Experience in mentorship and innovative research funding are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop an independent research program under the auspices of the Edwin S.H. Leong Chair.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students and contribute to their academic growth.
  • Teach and develop coursework that aligns with our strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and policymakers to advance the field of child health equity.

Support and Resources

This role is supported by a $5.5 million endowment which provides a competitive salary and operating funds. The successful applicant will receive resources to establish a robust, externally-funded research program.
