Join Goldman Sachs as an Associate in Quantitative Engineering - Dallas, Texas
Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC is seeking a talented Associate in Quantitative Engineering for our Dallas, Texas office. This role is crucial for performing risk-model performance testing, analyzing large data sets, and enhancing the accuracy of risk metrics in our trading businesses. Your primary focus will be on counterparty credit risk, working closely with credit risk modelers and technology experts to resolve issues and improve our risk and capital models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk-model performance testing and large data set analysis.
- Identify and address sources of model underperformance.
- Enhance data and methodology for risk metrics used in risk management and capital allocation.
- Report findings and analysis effectively to senior internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Participate in regulatory exams of IMM models and prepare detailed materials for regulators.
- Address limitations or uncertainties identified by the independent model validation unit.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Required Qualifications:
Formal Education:
- Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, or a related quantitative field plus 1 year of experience in a similar role; OR
- Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, or a related quantitative field plus 3 years of experience in a similar role.
Experience and Skills:
- At least 1 year (with a Master's) or 3 years (with a Bachelor's) of experience in:
- C++, Java, or Python.
- Developing statistical, probability, or backtesting models using financial mathematics principles.
- Quantitative analysis and programming for quantitative analytical tools.
- Advanced econometric, statistical, or mathematical techniques (e.g., Bayesian analysis, time series analysis, machine learning algorithms).
- Risk management or scenario-based analysis.
- Quantitative risk analytics, such as factor models.
- Data management and analysis tools for risk oversight or investment support.
- Probability or statistical methods like regressions and hypothesis testing.
