Role Purpose
This role will play a prominent part in our political risk consulting, due diligence, government affairs, and strategic advisory services in Ukraine, closely collaborating with our established Kyiv-based team and senior stakeholders within Control Risks. Although the position will be permanently based in Kyiv, the candidate will initially be located in London, Berlin, or Frankfurt, with the intention of relocating to Kyiv later.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Analysis and Understanding of Ukrainian Politics and Economics
The role involves overseeing our client monitoring and analysis in the areas of Ukraine's domestic politics, economics and security, foreign policy and geopolitics, as well as the evolution of Ukraine’s political economy, regulatory framework, and the roles of various institutions and decision makers. The candidate will strive to continuously enhance the depth and relevance of our analysis for clients from different sectors.
Research and Investigative Capabilities
The role involves infrastucture improvement for research and investigation processes for our Ukrainian clients; this includes the availability and integrity of public records, the accuracy and value of different media outlets, and the appropriate use of contact networks and discreet inquiries within and beyond Ukraine.
These research techniques will complement the country’s politics and economics analysis, enabling us to better advise clients on reputation due diligence best practices (financial crime and ESG factors included), the decision-making processes of the Ukrainian government and external parties especially with regard to reconstruction efforts, and other long-term research and strategy projects mandated by our clients.
Government Affairs and Strategic Advisory
This role will provide our clients with analysis of Ukraine's decision-making processes on economic policy, trade, investment, and reconstruction. The aim is to provide advice on how best to engage with the Ukrainian public and private sectors.
Business Development
The selected candidate for this role will collaborate with other senior stakeholders at Control Risks to strategically position the company in order to correctly advise clients on their strategy and risk management in Ukraine. This includes involvement in events and conferences; thought leadership publishing and media engagement; and active collaborations with organizations invested in Ukraine on their priorities and requirements.
Risk and Compliance
This role will involve collaboration with other senior stakeholders at Control Risks to manage a variety of risk and compliance issues affecting Control Risks and our clients in Ukraine. This includes grappling with our regulatory obligations in Ukraine and other countries, as well as ensuring the security of our colleagues and clients.
Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary Ukrainian politics and economics
- Experience in a professional services, consulting or advisory capacity in Ukraine
- An established network of professional contacts in Ukraine and other countries relevant to this position
- Full fluency in English and Ukrainian
