Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Data Scientist for NA PC Analytics, you will:
- Lead and oversee project teams in developing advanced statistical models, such as commercial insurance pricing models
- Analyze data to identify trends, assess impacts, and recommend improvements
- Research and implement statistical and mathematical methodologies for business problems
- Develop and deploy generalized linear models supporting pricing efforts for lines like homeowners, property, and casualty
- Conduct data validation and exploratory analyses
- Communicate analytical goals, methods, outcomes, and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Translate analytical findings into actionable business insights
- Collaborate with various business partners to gather requirements and develop solutions that enhance key business metrics
- Maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders including Field, Product, Operations, IT, and analytics peer groups
- Mentor junior data scientists and engineers
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Proficient in Python programming
- Expertise in machine learning modeling
- Advanced understanding of predictive/prescriptive analytics and data visualization
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Experience in data manipulation and feature engineering
- Skilled in exploratory data analysis, model development, and solution design
- Proficient in SQL programming
- Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong multitasking, quick learning, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with GLM for pricing models in areas such as homeowners, and property and casualty
- Familiarity with Git version control
Preferred Skills
- Experience with API architecture and consumption at scale
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies and cloud services (Databricks/Spark, Azure/AWS/GCP)
- Experience in A/B testing for quality engineering
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in insurance or financial services sales/marketing
- Advanced skills in model tuning, evaluation, and operationalization
- Experience with NoSQL databases
Education and Experience
Applicants should have over 7 years of industry experience in data science and analytics. Graduate degrees in fields like Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, or Engineering are preferred.
Location
Open work locations: Philadelphia, PA; Jersey City, NJ; Whitehouse Station, NJ; Simsbury, CT
Limited travel to various work locations for in-person collaboration and meetings may be expected.
Compensation
The pay range for this role is $122,500 to $198,000. The specific offer will depend on the candidate’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, which can be detailed further on our careers website. The pay range may be adjusted for the geographic differential based on the position location.
