Business Analyst for Amazon Transportation Team

Amazon's Transportation team is actively seeking an innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Business Analyst to join our Analytics team. This role requires a detail-oriented candidate with superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and technical skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently. Ideal candidates will be adept at identifying problems before they occur and implementing solutions that prevent and detect outages. The ability to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, improve customer experiences, and achieve the right outcomes is essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define problems and build analytical frameworks to streamline operations processes.
  • Identify gaps in existing processes by analyzing data and liaising with relevant teams to address them.
  • Analyze data and metrics and provide updates to internal teams.
  • Apply multi-domain/process expertise and own end-to-end roadmap.
  • Translate complex business problems into analysis requirements and maintain execution standards.
  • Define analytical approaches and review them with stakeholders.
  • Independently work with stakeholders to develop use cases and standardized outputs.
  • Scale data processes and reports, creating efficient queries for client updates and integrating with data engineering for full-scale automation.
  • Manage, analyze, and pull data from various sources, ensuring data fidelity.
  • Proactively manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Provide program communications and propose solutions to stakeholders.
  • Effectively represent the team on medium-size analytical projects and communicate across teams.

A Day in the Life

  • Solve ambiguous analyses with well-defined inputs and drive to identify root causes.
  • Handle large data sets using advanced tools and derive impactful recommendations.
  • Understand and apply basics of test and control comparison, offering insights through statistical measures like hypothesis testing.
  • Identify and implement optimal communication mechanisms based on data sets and stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex analytical insights and their business implications effectively.

About the Team

The Analytics Operations and Programs (AOP) team is dedicated to standardizing BI and analytics capabilities across multiple marketplaces, reducing repeat analytics/reporting workloads for operations. Our mission includes providing visibility on operations performance, improving network efficiency, and reducing defects. AOP is composed of a diverse mix of engineers, analysts, and scientists who champion customer obsession.

We empower operations to make data-driven decisions through near real-time dashboards, self-serve deep-dive capabilities, and advanced analytics. Our collaborative efforts with Operations teams help implement data-driven metric improvement programs.

Location

We are hiring candidates based in Hyderabad, TS, IND.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis and interpretation with platforms such as Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Quicksight, or similar.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
  • Experience with AWS solutions like EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
  • Strong SQL skills to pull data and scripting experience (Python) for data modeling.
  • Experience developing and presenting new metrics for better understanding of business performance.
  • 4+ years in ecommerce, transportation, finance, or related analytical fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS, and Matlab.
  • Background in data mining, ETL, and managing large-scale, complex datasets in a business environment.
