The Role

We are seeking a Senior/Principal Data Scientist to support clinical trials and healthcare teams by applying high-quality data science approaches while adhering to deliverable timelines. This role requires leading data science efforts within a team environment, being responsible for data science aspects of projects, and ensuring effective collaboration with other functions and clients as needed.
Responsibilities
- Translate clinical questions into analytical problems by collaborating with research teams to design, conduct, interpret, and report analyses.
- Effectively collect and document client requirements.
- Identify, access, and utilize appropriate data such as clinical, observational, and healthcare data to support research questions.
- Provide guidance and expertise to other data science team members on data availability, access, and use.
- Expertise in the robust, secure extraction and integration of different data types, and documentation of approaches for the team.
- Lead the delivery of practical, high-quality solutions using visualization, analytical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques.
- Act as data science systems and process owner (e.g., R/RStudio), working closely with IT and quality assurance groups to ensure business and industry regulatory requirements are met.
- Document, initiate, and perform appropriate validation and/or QC for projects.
- Maintain a broad understanding of current and emerging quantitative research techniques to leverage appropriate data and share knowledge with the data science team.
- Work alongside our Director of Data Science to manage projects from proposal and contract discussions with clients to project delivery.
- Lead, design, and perform projects utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, including model development, training, deployment, testing, refining, and iterating.
- Train other team members in applying machine learning and other data science analytical approaches.
- Identify opportunities for data science application within the industry and initiate relevant research or client projects.
- Develop and deliver company-wide training as required.
- Identify areas for new or improved processes, document them, and liaise with relevant stakeholders for implementation approval.
- Create robust processes to maintain and deliver developed tools to multiple clients.
- Define and document best practices for data science programming and analysis.
- Create, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes.
- Ensure study compliance with SOPs and processes.
Qualifications
- Educated to PhD, Master's, or Bachelor's degree level in Data Science or a related discipline.
- Experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Real World Data (RWD).
