About Us

Maersk Line Fleet Management and Technology is responsible for the ship management of Maersk Line-owned container vessels. Within the Decarbonization Data & Insights team, you will play a pivotal role in developing robust enterprise architecture, creating efficient data pipelines using ADLS, and providing comprehensive support for decarbonization projects.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing algorithms/scripts for emission and bunker performance monitoring and optimization of the Maersk Fleet.
  • Maintaining and improving existing emission and bunker performance monitoring algorithms/scripts.
  • Supporting and developing new in-house applications to meet Maersk’s strategic savings targets.
  • Managing data from multiple systems, including Azure, to facilitate project delivery for Subject Matter Experts.
  • Driving deep dive analysis into decarbonization and emission-related data.
  • Innovating and proposing optimization ideas for fleet performance enhancement.
  • Handling ad-hoc data requests from various stakeholders.
  • Exploring programming languages such as Python and R for managing big data sets from Maersk’s auto-logging performance system, Star Connect.
  • Ensuring strong stakeholder management through regular communication with the Decarbonization Management team and other departments.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • 3 - 6 years of industry data engineering experience, preferably in an analytics-intensive environment.
  • Proficiency in BI tools and big data solutions on the MS Azure cloud (Spark, PySpark, Spark SQL, Scala).
  • Experience delivering end-to-end BI solutions with a strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Expertise in developing batch/real-time processing solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Lake source.
  • Experience working with code versioning tools, ADO GIT repositories, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Inclination towards deep dive analysis and providing insightful, critical data.
  • Exposure to data science programming environments like R and Python.
  • Independent, systematic, and detail-oriented individual with a proactive mindset.
  • Willingness to learn and take on tasks outside your comfort zone.
  • Strong teamwork skills, understanding the importance of team performance in achieving goals.
  • Effective English communication skills and stakeholder management capabilities.
