Job Summary: The second-level Data Engineer is responsible for developing Data Engineering solutions. They should have a solid understanding of ETL concepts and be capable of applying these principles across multiple technologies. The Data Engineer II needs to be able to work with business users to integrate data from various sources and technologies, and make this data available for system integration and reporting. Essential Functions: - Manages existing ETL solutions and seeks ways to improve them - Independently translates business requirements into functional solutions while maintaining high-level accuracy and data integrity. - Independently turns business requirements into technical terms for team members - Collaborates with team members to standardize the data landscape, which can reduce development time and enhance consistency among ETL solutions - Takes ownership of complex projects and ensures their complete and accurate execution, with an emphasis on delivering business value - Suggests changes to Project Architecture, adhering to Architecture guidelines established by Senior Developers - Sets Data Engineer I standards and provides guidance as needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Strong analytical skills - Objectivity and openness to others' views, providing solutions and innovative inputs - Ability to adjust to shifting priorities - Excellent communicator with individuals and groups at all levels - Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing user expectations - Good organizational, time management, and listening skills - Self-motivated with a passion for working with diverse technologies - Understanding of ETL concepts and ability to apply them to various technologies - Comfortable using source control (Bitbucket, git, GitHub) Training and Experience: - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent experience) is required - A minimum of 4 years of experience with Data systems is required - A minimum of 2 years of experience with AirFlow or equivalent training is required - A minimum of 2 years of experience in Python coding using modules like Pandas, Numpy, and others is required - A minimum of 2 years of experience with ETL Tools is required - A minimum of 2 years of experience in troubleshooting stored procedures and TSQL code is required - Experience with C# or other statically typed languages is a plus - Experience working with external REST APIs is required - Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or later is required - Experience with Microsoft SQL Server performance tuning - Experience with AWS systems and concepts for ETL, including AWS Glue (or equivalent), Simple Storage Solutions (S3), Lambda, boto3 is required - Experience with Data Lake development is a plus - Understanding of various file formats, including JSON, CSV, Parquet, fixed width is required Compensation & Benefits: The compensation for this position ranges from $95,000 to $110,000, depending on qualifications. Local minimum wage laws apply. Additional earnings may be possible through one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans.
