The Seattle Digital Hub focuses on developing the cloud architecture for the upcoming generation of connected car services. The Competence Center is completed by the Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad. As the number of connected Mercedes-Benz vehicles on the road grows daily, so does the amount and relevance of the data generated. The Mercedes-Benz Data and AI team is seeking a dedicated and versatile Data Engineer Intern to join our Machine Learning Team for Fall 2023 to assist with the collection, storage, processing, and analysis of extensive vehicle data. You will work with our MBRDNA team in Silicon Valley, focusing on deriving valuable insights from Mercedes-Benz vehicles and supporting the development of data that will influence the future of Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the aim to enhance our customers' experience. In this role, you will work independently and cooperatively with our Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers, aiding in processing vehicle data, developing data products, evaluating data insights, and compiling information from our Mercedes-Benz vehicles globally. Job Responsibilities include: - Building and optimizing data pipelines combining new vehicle data and third-party content. - Defining and implementing data stores based on customer and system requirements. - Assisting Data Scientists responsible for data analysis. - Working closely with a proactive, highly motivated engineering team to bring next generation infotainment and telematics solutions to Mercedes-Benz products globally. - Supporting the improvement of cloud-based data processing pipeline. - Working in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software with a quantifiable customer value. Minimum Qualifications: - Currently enrolled or recently completed BS/MS/PhD program in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or related technical field of study. - Robust programming and software development skills in Python. - Familiarity with SQL and large-scale query processing. - Experience with big data processing on cloud platforms (PySpark or Scala). - Good understanding of data analysis, data ingestion, and data integration. - Experience with git or other version control systems. - Ability to learn quickly and eager to share knowledge. - Strong instincts for efficiency and optimization. - Problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Recommendation Systems, Information retrieval and Data mining, Bayesian inference, and Gaussian processes. - Data visualization - Understanding of ML workflow. - Experience with Microsoft Azure. - Curiosity, self-motivation, and excitement about solving open-ended challenges at Mercedes-Benz. The current hourly rate for this position is $28 for Undergraduate Students and $32 for Graduate Students.
