About the Role

We are currently expanding our team and seeking experienced Data Engineers to support the growing success of our UK Government sector projects. As a Data Engineer (ML) at BAE Systems, you will work across various stages of the Data Science lifecycle, from research and proof of concept models to building and deploying operational solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer and implement machine learning (ML) solutions, owning the end-to-end process and lifecycle of ML systems.
  • Deploy models and capabilities, ensuring successful integration into production environments.
  • Continuously research the latest ML and AI advancements to enhance current systems.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to refine, optimize, and implement prototypes and models.
  • Work with delivery teams to integrate ML models within larger systems.
  • Manage data quality and accessibility, collaborating with data engineers as needed.
  • Perform data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform model development and deployment.
  • Monitor model performance, identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Define and optimize MLOps processes to enhance model development and deployment efficiency.
  • Adhere to policy and ethical AI standards, ensuring compliance with guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams on ML project implementation and integration.
  • Innovate and prototype new ML solutions within the business.
  • Utilize cloud-based environments for scalable ML model development and deployment, integrating pre-built cloud capabilities when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in Data Engineering, Analysis, or Science, with strong programming skills and application in real-world scenarios.
  • Proficiency in Data Engineering tools and technologies, particularly ETL tools like Python and Big Data Applications.
  • A solid understanding of Open Source software for Data Engineering and the ability to evaluate these platforms against commercial products.
  • Expertise in database concepts, including unstructured, NoSQL, and Big Data platforms, as well as object and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience in Cyber Security and Intelligence is beneficial but not mandatory.

Travel and Client Onsite Work
