Who We Are Looking For

Understood is seeking a motivated and curiosity-driven Data Engineer, who will play a crucial role in enhancing and expanding our data capabilities. Reporting to the Senior Data Engineer, this position is integral to our Data Engineering team. You will collaborate closely with Data Operations, Analytics, and Marketing stakeholders, delivering critical data to drive organizational analytics and informed decision-making.

This hybrid role is based in our New York City office, requiring your presence three days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage ETL pipelines in collaboration with the data operations team to support data analysis, marketing, donations, and data science teams.
• Integrate with third-party APIs for efficient data transfer into and out of our Snowflake data warehouse.
• Maintain and update data monitoring, alerting, and documentation to ensure high data quality and reliability.
• Champion best practices in data management including scalability, efficiency, security, and disaster recovery.
• Identify optimization opportunities and lead initiatives towards technical excellence.

What You’ll Need:

• 1-4 years of experience in data engineering or similar roles with proven skills in data integration and migration.
• Proficiency in SQL, familiar with data warehouses like Snowflake and Postgres, and comfortable with Python and data libraries such as Pandas and Pytest.
• Experience with ETL tasks and third-party APIs connectivity.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies.
• A strong commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the workplace.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with third-party tools like Rivery or Stitch for data integration.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

Salary & Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range from $100,000 to $115,000, depending on experience and qualifications. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, promoting wellness for our team members and their families.
