Job Purpose:

At the heart of HEINEKEN International’s D&T department, the role of Data Engineering Manager is pivotal, leading the APAC Data & Analytics Hub. This position plays a crucial role in implementing our strategic vision of creating standardised, scalable data foundations across both the region and the entire enterprise. Known for outstanding innovation, cutting-edge technology, and advanced analytics, the D&T department propels HEINEKEN forward, ensuring alignment with our ambitious organizational objectives. The Data Engineering Manager will join forces with colleagues throughout HEINEKEN to oversee the complete data management process—from extraction and transformation to storage—leveraging serverless Azure technologies to deploy analytical models and solutions tailored to specific functions or groups.

This role is essential for managing quality assurance, data migration, integration, and the deployment of solutions, aiming to maximize business value. Success in this role will be facilitated by fostering strong relationships and collaborative efforts across various levels of the HEINEKEN data organisation and multiple programs throughout the central, regional, and OpCo structures. The role also involves close partnership with an expanding team of data professionals, including Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Product Managers, who are instrumental in the scaled delivery of analytics products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end processes of data extraction, transformation, and storage to implement real-time and offline analytic solutions.
  • Ensure business optimization through quality assurance, data migration and integration, and solution deployment.
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes, data lineage, and observability for extensive data ingestion from diverse sources.
  • Design and manage data flows for efficient and reliable data transfer, including conducting unit and integration tests.
  • Provide technical support for understanding business issues and designing intelligent data-driven products.
  • Embrace and contribute to an agile work environment, supporting team success and collaborative innovation.
  • Build and manage relationships with a broad network of stakeholders to foster strong connections and collaboration.
  • Guide the development and skill enhancement of both junior and senior data engineers in a team of seven.
  • Potentially oversee the selection of Analytical Automation vendors and tooling workflows.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 8 years in analytical/scientific roles plus 3 years in management.
  • Advanced proficiency with Python, including strong data analytics expertise.
  • Extensive experience in software engineering, including unit testing and integration testing practices.
  • Well-versed in managing large datasets using Spark and RDBMS and skilled in PySpark for writing and analyzing distributed data.
  • Experienced in managing large development teams with a strong understanding of CI/CD practices.
  • Excellent SQL skills for comprehensive data extraction from databases.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships across business units.
  • Effective in managing multiple projects simultaneously and communicating with various stakeholders.

Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with Azure development environments.
  • Knowledge in Infrastructure as Code practices, e.g., Terraform.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of machine learning model deployment and monitoring.

Location: Office-based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (with Hybrid Working options).
