Position Overview: Data Science Manager

Job Summary:
Our Global Analytics and Data Science team is expanding, and we are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to lead our next-generation CECL-compliant loss forecasting models. Utilize advanced machine learning and econometrics techniques combined with PayPal's extensive proprietary data to enhance credit risk prediction and manage loss reserves effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, validate, and document state-of-the-art CECL-compliant loss forecasting models.
  • Perform ongoing model enhancements and performance reviews using the latest machine learning features and algorithms.
  • Analyze vast datasets to uncover insights across various dimensions using tools like SAS, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Collaborate effectively with Accounting and Finance teams to sync on loss predictions and refine forecasting methodologies.
  • Lead and manage the entire analytics project lifecycle-from conception to delivery, ensuring rigorous stakeholder engagement and precise execution.
  • Communicate complex analytical results to senior management, translating data insights into actionable business decisions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Solid background in Machine Learning and Econometrics.
  • Proficient in data manipulation and analysis with SQL, SAS, Hadoop, or similar tools.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a credit-related role within consumer or small business sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a proven record in strategic project driving and management in complex, matrix-driven environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of handling both technical and business audiences.
  • Advanced Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of IFRS9 and CECL is considered an asset.

Salary and Benefits:
