Team Description:

The Apollo Team at Capital One is your gateway to exploring comprehensive, high-quality business data in the U.S. Integrating both internal and external data sources, Apollo aims to meet diverse business needs across the organization, delivering pivotal data solutions and technological advancements.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Data Scientist within the Apollo team, you will:

  • Develop both batch and real-time machine learning pipelines.
  • Analyze vast datasets to identify valuable business insights.
  • Collaborate with leading data scientists, engineers, and product managers.
  • Contribute to projects impacting the company's bottom line directly.
  • Communicate complex data science concepts to non-experts.

The Ideal Candidate:

Our ideal candidate places customers first, is deeply innovative, and has a robust analytical skill set:

  • Proven ability to build and validate statistical models.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Python, Conda, AWS, and other technologies.
  • Passion for big data and experience in data retrieval, assembly, and analysis.

Qualifications:

Basic qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years in data analytics, or a Master’s Degree with 4+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year in data analytics. Applicants should also have a minimum of two years of experience with machine learning, open-source programming, and relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in a STEM field, extensive experience in Python, Scala, or R, and familiarity with AWS and SQL.

Location-Specific Salary Range:

Salaries for this role depend on your location:

  • New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $201,400 - $229,900
  • San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $213,400 - $243,500
