Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic (Senior) Manager of Data Science (all genders) to head rider-centric modeling in our logistics division. Data Science is crucial to our operations, driving everything from customer acquisition and retention to demand forecasting, staffing, route estimation, payments, and fraud prevention. In this impactful role, you will steer initiatives to balance supply and demand, enhance fleet performance, create seamless user experiences, and optimize costs globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of data scientists to develop and deploy algorithms aimed at optimizing rider logistics operations including demand forecasting, staffing, behavioral models, route planning, and payments.
• Establish a long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap to stay competitive and prepared for future challenges.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and operations to address key business challenges with data-driven solutions that improve rider experience and operational efficiency.
• Own and refine the Data Science practices, processes, standards, and culture for Rider logistics, ensuring agility and adaptability.
• Grow and scale teams to produce high-quality work sustainably, fostering personal growth, learning, and a positive work environment.
• Stay current with advancements in data science and machine learning, incorporating new techniques and technologies to enhance our models' effectiveness and scalability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building data science products, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Strong expertise in machine learning and statistical analysis, with rigorous methodological and model validation practices.
• Proven track record in delivering production models across various domains such as Time Series, Bayesian Models, Reinforcement Learning, Operations and Optimization, or Fraud.
• Experience working with petabyte-scale data for feature engineering and machine learning models.
• Proficient in Python and SQL, with familiarity in cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, and MLOps tools like Metaflow or Kubeflow.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating statistical findings into actionable business insights, and working effectively across multiple teams.
• Experience designing complex experiments to isolate the impact of system changes.
