Position Overview

DEFTEC Corporation is seeking a Data Scientist Analyst to support the Space Training and Readiness Command Human Capital Directorate (S1). The S1 team provides comprehensive personnel and manpower support, systems and program integration, and civilian pay oversight across the STARCOM Enterprise. STARCOM/S1 develops U.S. Space Force (USSF) and U.S. Air Force human capital policies to prepare forces to excel in a Contested, Degraded, and Operationally Limited (CDO) environment. This position involves modeling complex business problems and uncovering business insights using statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques. You will play a role in building and developing our personnel and manpower data infrastructure, supporting senior leadership with insights, management reports, and analyses for effective decision-making.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize scientific analysis to assist the S1 and senior leadership in decision-making; advocate for enhanced business practices.
  • Assess enterprise architecture data to translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements, supporting executive decisions and workflows.
  • Proactively mine data warehouses to identify trends and patterns, generating insights for business units and senior leadership.
  • Employ advanced analytic methods to extract value from business data.
  • Conduct large-scale experimentation to identify hidden relationships between variables in large datasets.
  • Research and implement cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Determine requirements for training and evolving deep learning models and algorithms.
  • Visualize information and develop engaging reports on data analysis results using data visualization tools.
  • Advise product teams on new products, features, or updates through database recommendations.
  • Develop frameworks and processes to analyze unstructured information collected through social media platforms.
  • Support user experience specialists and information architects to enhance information visualization.
  • Distribute best practices to analytics and product teams, providing consultations for database experimentations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the field of Data Science.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, Big Data, Hadoop, Java, Spark, TensorFlow.
  • Working knowledge of Machine Learning Algorithms.
  • Statistical modeling through software (e.g., SPSS) or programming language (e.g., Python or R).
  • Proficiency with other programming languages such as R and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience deploying analytical models to solve business problems.
  • Ability to develop experimental and analytical plans for data modeling processes.
  • Strategic thinking about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience in Agile development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Envision Platform.
