Data Scientist - Portfolio Opportunity at M-KOPA

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our innovative Portfolio product group at M-KOPA. Here, we highly value progress, humility, and technical excellence. Our team is looking for an experienced data scientist with a rich background in developing production machine learning (ML) models and utilizing monitoring tools.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will have expertise in both data science and software engineering, which allows for effective collaboration on production ML pipelines and the development of robust machine learning models. Key competencies include proficiency in forecasting models and exceptional problem-framing and problem-solving skills. We are particularly interested in individuals who are strong communicators and have experience in understanding and explaining ML output changes to commercial stakeholders.

This is a fully remote role within the UTC -1 to UTC +3 time zone. Our engineers work from diverse locations in the UK, Europe, and Africa. You will report directly to the Group Engineering Manager.

Key Requirements

Proficiency in the following areas will significantly highlight your suitability for this role:

• Python Programming Language
• Familiarity with popular machine learning frameworks for time series data, including Scikit-learn, tree-based models, and regression models
• Visualization tools such as Plotly
• Knowledge of dbt and Databricks
• Experience with Looker
• Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) frameworks
• Skills in monitoring models in production environments
• Expertise in cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Well-versed in MLOps best practices
• Development of forecasting models, particularly for risk and fraud detection
• Strong problem-framing and problem-solving skills
