Job Overview
We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to transform our extensive field and tree species data into insights that measure our carbon impact. Working closely with the Data and Carbon teams, you will create models informing project design, contracts, and innovative carbon modeling suited for agroforestry in tropical areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and refine Machine Learning and Deep Learning models.
- Handle structured and unstructured data, including geospatial and image data.
- Process large data volumes to generate insights and train models.
- Develop and maintain Python code and create insightful dashboards and visualizations.
- Develop and sustain a species-based carbon forecast and quantification tool.
- Perform statistical analysis to assess forecast uncertainty and draft carbon sequestration scenarios.
- Identify representative sample plots for carbon quantification.
- Continuously enhance models and analysis based on new data inputs.
- Provide internal consultancy on project design to meet carbon obligations and other relevant impacts.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a Data Analyst or Data Scientist role.
- Proficiency in Exploratory Data Analysis and solid statistics knowledge.
- Strong command of SQL and Python, including libraries like Scikit-learn, Pandas, Numpy, TensorFlow, Keras, XGBoost, and Matplotlib.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and Deep Learning.
- Background in software engineering principles such as unit testing, TDD, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with project management tools like JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience or strong interest in sustainability or impact fields.
- Fluent in English; French and Spanish are advantageous.
- Availability to work from the office at least three times a week.
