About Faculty

Faculty transforms organizational performance through safe, impactful, and human-led AI. As Europe’s leading applied AI company, we recognized AI’s potential a decade ago—long before the current hype cycle. Founded in 2014 with our Fellowship programme, we have trained academics to become commercial data scientists.

Today, Faculty services over 300 global customers, offering industry-leading software and bespoke AI consultancy for retail, healthcare, energy, and governmental organizations. Our award-winning Fellowship program complements our comprehensive services. Notably, OpenAI selected us as their first technical partner to help deploy cutting-edge generative AI safely. Our impactful work spans forecasting NHS demand during COVID-19, optimizing green energy, predicting customer spending habits, and enhancing online safety for children. AI is an epoch-defining technology, and we seek individuals who can help our customers leverage its vast benefits safely.

About the Fellowship

Artificial Intelligence is the most essential technology of our age, but its value lies in real-world applications—enhancing products, improving services, and saving lives. Since 2014, the Faculty Fellowship programme has assisted over 400 PhD graduates, post-doctoral researchers, masters, and experienced software engineers in transitioning to careers in data science.

The Faculty Fellowship programme transforms academics into highly skilled data scientists and machine learning engineers. After two weeks of intensive lectures and workshops focusing on practical applications of data science, fellows will work on a seven-week data science project with partner companies, where they will earn the London Living Wage.

The programme culminates in Demo Day, where fellows present their work to an audience of over 100 guests, including hiring managers and industry leaders. This event offers excellent networking opportunities with businesses across London, the UK, and Europe.

Alumni of the Faculty Fellowship have secured roles at leading companies, from tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Meta to fast-growing startups such as PhysicsX and Orbital Witness, and established FTSE 100 companies like AstraZeneca and Tesco.

  • A high level of mathematical competence.
  • Proficiency in coding, particularly in Python.
  • Knowledge of theoretical concepts in statistical learning (e.g., hypothesis testing, Bayesian Inference, Regression, SVM, Random Forests, Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing, optimization).
  • Experience with coding libraries commonly used in data science.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience in project planning and sticking to deadlines.

Timelines

Applications must be submitted by Friday, 28 June 2024, at 17:00 (BST). Early submissions are highly encouraged as they provide us more review time.

Fellowship Benefits

Fellows receive the London Living Wage for the entire nine-week programme. The initial two weeks of training are free of charge. Post-programme, fellows gain access to our free online community, where alumni discuss data science news, techniques, conferences, and more. Faculty also offers continuous career support to graduated fellows, remaining a part of our professional network to help you succeed in your data science career.

Join us at Faculty and become a part of a transformative journey in AI and data science.
