Job Description

The Finance Department is seeking a Financial Data Analyst to become part of a dynamic and developing data team responsible for the entire data range of the department. Vision for this role is to bridge the divide between the traditional accounting profession and the data-focused aspects of the environment.

The role will necessitate understanding department policies and procedures, recommending and developing systems, and reporting to enhance the department's operation, in line with the current technological environment. Moreover, the successful applicant should possess a strong work ethic and the capacity to work as a part of a team, as the role demands cross-departmental collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather data from a variety of sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external datasets.
  • Clean, format, and convert raw data to ensure its accuracy and readiness for analysis. This may involve dealing with missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies.
  • Translate analytical outcomes into significant insights and actionable recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and share findings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain data integrity, security, and documentation. Ensure data is organized and readily accessible for analysis.
  • Develop new business processes on the cloud (Azure Synapse) data warehouse when required
  • Discover hidden patterns or trends in data to inform business strategies.
  • Compose SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases.
  • Create data models for various purposes, such as forecasting and budgeting
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Stay well-informed with industry trends, tools, and techniques to enhance analytical abilities.
  • Work closely with other teams, such as financial accountants and decision-makers, to understand their needs and provide insights that can steer business decisions.
  • Clearly communicate intricate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
     

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Data Analytics or Data Science Qualification (i.e., Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Actuarial, Financial Degree)

Experience required
Essential:

  • 3 - 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in creating and maintaining data models
  • Experience in synapse analytics or data factory

Advantageous:

  • Exposure to the finance environment 
  • Experience in processes 

Other Skills required:

  • Advanced MS Excel
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Python
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 
  • Power BI modeling and reporting
  • MS Office (excluding Excel) (advantageous)
  • Experience with Azure and Synapse analytics (advantageous)
