Job Description

As a crucial member of our team, your role involves using advanced mathematical models and tools such as SAS, Python, and R, combined with your deep financial industry knowledge, to manage and analyze financial data. This includes model results that help the team generate insights on business performance, resolve complex business queries, and make informed decisions. While model development isn't the core focus, you will engage in significant data analysis, model execution, and interpretation tasks.

Responsibilities

The Financial Data Scientist Senior Associate (Hybrid) position offers you the flexibility to shape each day while collaborating with a supportive team to achieve the following:

  • Efficient analysis of large datasets using advanced financial engineering tools and techniques.
  • Understanding customer requirements for financial analyses or models.
  • Conducting thorough financial analyses, including scenario testing and stress testing.
  • Executing models and interpreting results to provide actionable insights to clients.
  • Collaborating with model builders to enhance model integrity and performance.
  • Conducting system validations and regression testing essential for maintaining high-quality data and systems.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts and answer essential questions accurately
  • Experience in operational excellence and improving business operations
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, and tools like Excel, Tableau, Power BI, and AWS
  • Expertise in risk assessment and management, statistical methods, and graphical data representation
  • Effective communication and presentation skills

Desired Experience:

  • Background in economics, finance, statistics, or a related field
  • Experience in the mortgage or real estate market, particularly in areas from origination to loss mitigation
  • Proficiency in using Tableau, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools
  • Experience in engaging stakeholders to develop reports and analytical tools for decision-making
