Job Overview:

As a motivated Lead AWS Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in constructing efficient and scalable data pipelines using AWS. Your expertise in AWS ETL services will enable you to design, develop, and manage large-scale data integration solutions while ensuring top-notch data quality, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust data pipelines using AWS services like Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and Kinesis.
  • Lead and mentor a team of ETL engineers, enhancing their skills and driving successful data integration projects.
  • Optimize existing data pipelines for improved performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation to maintain transparency and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Implement thorough data quality checks and monitor processes to maintain data integrity across the ETL flow.
  • Work collaboratively with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to meet ETL requirements effectively.
  • Ensure secure data access by managing AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools like Terraform.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in AWS data services and ETL best practices to continuously improve our processes.
  • Address and troubleshoot complex issues in data pipelines to ensure seamless data operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in designing and implementing AWS-based data pipelines.
  • Proven track record with AWS ETL services such as Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and Kinesis.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python or Bash for data manipulation and automation tasks.
  • Strong experience in data quality assurance methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to guide and mentor junior team members effectively.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora, Redshift, and Snowflake.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD methodologies for data pipelines.
  • Relevant AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate are highly advantageous.
