Job Family Group: Information Technology (IT) Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: Business unit: Finance Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: Lead BI Analyst – Data Engineering This role requires the application of business intelligence (BI), reporting and data modelling, analytical techniques, and big data processing to increase revenues, improve operational efficiency, optimize customer programs, and quickly respond to emerging market trends, thereby gaining a competitive edge. The person will also provide operational and functional support to the business in creating, storing, managing, and maintaining information in all forms, while adhering to policies and procedures for managing and sharing information among different individuals, organizations, and information systems throughout the information life cycle. General Position Definition The Finance Operations Data Science Team is responsible for delivering tangible value to business units within Shell through data-driven decision making. This position is a part of the Process Analytics team leading a team of business analysts supporting process mining projects for different businesses within Shell. The candidate will play a crucial role in leading and executing data analysis projects in a business, collaborating with different business stakeholders and other partners, implementing insights to realize tangible value for Shell, managing a team of BI Analysts (up to 5), and working across a range of technologies and tools. Skills Required The candidate should possess deep business expertise, strong background in business analytics, quantitative skills, domain expertise and storytelling, and have prior experience in similar roles. Working knowledge of process mining tools like Celonis EMS/UI Path/PAFNow is preferred. The candidate should also be proficient in Scripting Tools like SQL/Python, SAP Data Models and SAP Table Structures, Data collection, Data cleaning, Data Quality Analysis, Exploratory data analysis, Reporting Automation, Data visualization, and Dashboard maintenance. Industry / Functional Expertise The candidate should have deep business expertise, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry - Upstream or Downstream businesses. Expertise in functional analytics: Order-to-cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, Tax (Direct & Indirect), Financial Risk and Assurance (controls and governance), and Master Data Management. Experience in Manufacturing / Supply Chain: Maintenance Scheduling & Optimization, Inventory optimization, Spend Analytics, Vendor Performance, Logistics optimization, Contract Compliance. Stakeholder Management Skills The candidate should be able to form close relationships with business stakeholders across businesses/functions, understanding their operation areas comprehensively, and articulate these into the project execution. They should be able to clearly articulate the challenges/opportunities that can be supported by analytics, deliver actionable insights addressing these challenges/opportunities, and understand businesses' governance and control structures. Project Management The candidate should show proficiency in executing end-to-end analytics projects - project scoping, sourcing data, managing modeling, translating model results into business insights, helping the business partner understand these insights and make decisions that generate value for the organization through data analysis. They must be comfortable handling different moving parts – business stakeholders, IT, Analytics Resources, Data Experts, SMEs for successful project completion. Special Challenges The candidate also needs to deliver practical working solutions from a new and developing conceptual area, coach and mentor BI Analyst and Sr BI Analysts, and work virtually with network of colleagues located globally.
