Job Description
CapTech Data Engineering consultants enable clients to construct and maintain advanced data systems that integrate data from variegated sources to facilitate decision-making. We build pipelines and prepare data for use by data scientists, data analysts, and other data systems. We enjoy solving problems and providing innovative solutions to our clients. Our Cloud Data Engineers utilize the client's cloud infrastructure to deliver this value today and prepare for future scalability. The Value You Deliver (or What You Will Do)
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers regarding best practices, methodologies, and technologies in implementing data engineering solutions.
- Design, implement and maintain contemporary data pipelines to deliver optimal solutions using suitable cloud technologies.
- Collaborate with product owners and business SMEs to analyze customer requirements and provide sustainable and supportable engineered solutions.
- Offer technical leadership and cooperate within and across teams to ensure the overall technical solution aligns with the customer's needs.
- Stay updated with the most recent cloud technologies, patterns, and methodologies; share knowledge by articulately conveying results and ideas to key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Experience in building/operating highly available distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- 5+ years of experience in delivering data engineering solutions on the cloud platform
- 5+ years of experience in implementing contemporary designs using at least one cloud-based solution/platform (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Advanced level proficiency with at least one ETL / Data Orchestration technology (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx, Ab Initio, Pentaho, Talend, Matillion)
- Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and data lake solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks
- 5+ years of experience with SQL or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL server, Oracle, Aurora, Presto, BigQuery)
- Expertise in SQL, database design/structure and data structure (star, snowflake schemas, de/normalized designs)
- 5+ years of experience with at least one programming language (Python, Java, R, C / C# / C++, Shell)
- Familiarity with one or more DevOps tools (git, Jenkins, CI/CD, Jira)
- Basic understanding of big data, open source, and data streaming concepts
- Ability to think strategically and provide recommendations using traditional and modern architectural components based on business needs
- Experience in providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers in the data engineering sphere
- Cloud certification on any platform is a plus
