About the Role

Klaviyo’s Data Science team is expanding the use of data science and ML across our product offerings. We want you to spearhead new initiatives, starting with enhancing automation for our SMS Conversations feature. You will address complex problems with a fresh data science and ML perspective, directly impacting our customers.

You are deeply technical and hands-on, enjoying delving into products and code to contribute solutions with your broad and deep technical toolkit. You enjoy working with Engineering, Product, and Design partners to solve customer challenges and value stakeholder collaboration.

As a leader, you drive projects forward, overcome challenges, and lead discussions to clear decisions. You mentor and develop others in their careers and are open to taking on one or two direct reports to multiply your impact. This role is based in Boston, MA, and includes a weekly hybrid in-office component.

Impact Timeline

30 Days: Complete on-boarding, set up the developer environment, and meet Data Science and Engineering team members. Familiarize yourself with the Klaviyo product and its data sources.

60 Days: Start working on your first project with the Conversations team, actively engaging with engineers and product managers.

90 Days: Train your first models, collaborate on deploying them to production, and formulate a technical roadmap for ML work in this area.

Up to 1 Year: Own and maintain multiple production models for Conversations, mentor one or two direct reports, and expand your impact to other areas of the Klaviyo product.

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with engineering teams and product managers to deliver customer-facing features
• Developing, deploying, and maintaining production models long-term
• Ability to create technical roadmaps for solving complex business problems using ML
• Advanced degree in computer science, statistics, data science, or equivalent industry experience
• Proficiency in Python and experience with ML tools such as pandas, sklearn, PyTorch, XGBoost
• Experience mentoring others and interest in managing a small number of direct reports

Nice to Have

• Experience with Sagemaker, Ray, Spark, Huggingface
• Experience with LLMs
• Customer interaction experience
• Industry experience in software engineering
• Management experience

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $192,000—$288,000 USD. Sales roles are eligible for variable compensation, and hourly non-exempt roles are eligible for overtime as per applicable law.
