Job Overview

The Lead Outpatient Data Analyst will analyze outpatient Medicare claims and payment errors to detect patterns of over-utilization and potential errors. This role supports the creation of Comparative Billing Reports (CBR) and Programs to Evaluate Payment Patterns Electronic Reports (PEPPER). This position is contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Analysis:
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of outpatient Medicare claims and payment error data.
  • Identify and report over-utilization patterns and potential fraud or abuse.
  • Develop and refine metrics for CBR and PEPPER reports.
• Report Generation:
  • Create accurate, detailed reports based on data analysis.
  • Ensure reports include clear metrics, comparisons, and trends.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and team for timely report delivery.
• Quality Assurance:
  • Implement rigorous testing and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintain documentation of quality control reviews.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all data used in reports.
• Stakeholder Support:
  • Provide data support to CMS, providers, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in training sessions explaining report findings.
  • Respond to inquiries related to data and methodologies.
• Collaboration:
  • Work with the Lead Inpatient Data Analyst to ensure report consistency.
  • Contribute to project planning and methodology development.
  • Participate in biweekly meetings with CMS and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of seven years of professional experience, including three years analyzing Medicare claims data.
• Expertise in healthcare data analysis and interpretation.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and software.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Medicare claims data analysis.
• Experience in analyzing and reporting medical claims outlier data.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or higher medical degree.
• Credentialed professional coder or a strong background in Statistics or Data Analytics.
