Supernal is leading the charge in developing innovative mobility solutions crucial to the growth of human-centered cities. Our design focus is on a novel electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, tailored to the mobility requirements of future cities. This offers passengers a seamless intermodal journey, ensuring they safely reach their final destination. Our work combines research in autonomy, robotics, aviation, and services to establish a new mobility category for the world’s communities. Guided by creative thinking and teamwork, we aim to enhance the mobility experience for all, improving people’s capacity to move – be it for work or leisure.
What we do:
The Lead Systems Integration Engineer for Aircraft Components is an integral part of the overall assembly and integration product team. The role's responsibilities encompass helping to form a variety of standardized processes and procedures, fostering and supporting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and creating a comprehensive integration roadmap across the company. The role confirms all aircraft subsystem requirements are met appropriately, all hardware parts are efficiently encased within the airframe structure, and promotes communication across all engineering functions.
This role requires on-site presence five days a week.
What you can do:
- Oversee top-level aircraft systems integration.
- Plan, design, arrange, amplify, and manage data management's essential groundwork for external suppliers, enabling their skills in aircraft development within the 3DX platform.
- Collaborate with different engineering fields to design high-reliability, safety-critical systems for an eVTOL aircraft.
- Lead the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM) development.
- Manage master geometry models for the corresponding zone.
- Oversee the digital mock-up of a substantial aircraft section.
- Handle Interface Requirements Models (IRMs) for each zone.
- Work closely with the Systems Engineering team to determine the PLM system's configuration and optimization.
- Control space allocation for all subsystems.
- Ensure all subsystems are accessible and maintainable.
- Uphold all system separation requirements.
- Regularly hold design fly-through meetings to resolve disconnects and mature the design through Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Be open to up to 10% of domestic and international travel.
- Fulfill other assignments as needed.
What you can contribute:
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is necessary; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of engineering experience, which includes working in a production PLM software environment to design, build, configure, and deploy scalable and highly available systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with EBOM and MBOM and collaboration with manufacturing engineering to ensure the aircraft zone is built for production.
- Familiarity with PLM integrations to ERP and MES systems.
- Operations experience managing company release, agency data, and controlled data (for example, FAA, ITAR, EAR).
- Experience in the aviation, automotive, and/or mobility space with UAS or UAM.
- Previous work with multi-functional teams.
- Detailed knowledge of the Dassault Systèmes 3DExperience Data Model with aerospace process comprehension across engineering disciplines, process-to-technology mapping capabilities, and a good understanding of data integration capabilities.
- Proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5/V6/3DX/NX), Enovia or Teamcenter to design release processes and efficient variant/effectively management.
- In-depth understanding of data management solutions as they relate to electronically stored documents, 3D models, substantiation, and design data packages.
- Detailed knowledge of aircraft configuration principles, including reconciliation between OEM and vendor design/manufacturing systems.
- Profound insight into Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) concepts and practices, including privileges, workflows, roles, users and user groups, attributes, and subclasses.
- A strong technical contributor who can take an optimistic approach to business requirements and software application problems and effectively diagnose and resolve them.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a sense of urgency, proactive delivery of communication, and follow-up.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
- Capable of productive collaboration and also working well independently.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize and complete tasks independently within time constraints.
You could also contribute with:
- Experience with Interface Control Document (ICD) and Interface Control Model (ICM) documentation.
- Experience with Zonal Analysis.
- Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) and Harness design know-how.
- Knowledge of Environmental Control Systems.
- Familiarity with Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3).
- Familiarity with realistic application of DO-160.
- Experience with Aircraft Functional Hazard Assessment (AFHA).
