As a Hardware Engineer, you'll design and build the systems that power Google’s extensive services. You will work on everything from low-level circuit design to large system designs, steering these systems through to high-volume manufacturing. Your impactful work will shape the infrastructure that supports millions of Google users worldwide.

Our team is responsible for creating the custom chips at the core of Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). Partnering with the Google AI community and external collaborators, we integrate the latest Machine Learning innovations with advanced integrated circuits, developing cutting-edge hardware acceleration solutions for ML training and inference.

Our Technical Infrastructure team ensures the seamless operation of the architecture behind everything our users see online. From maintaining our data centers to developing Google's next-gen platforms, we enable Google's product portfolio. We are the engineers' engineers, taking things apart and rebuilding them for improved performance. Our mission is to maintain optimal network performance, providing users with the fastest and best possible experience.

US Base Salary Range

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000 - $266,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by various factors such as role, level, and location. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including experience, skills, and relevant education or training. The recruiter will provide more specifics about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Note that posted compensation details are base salary only and do not include bonuses, equity, or benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Create differentiated architectural innovations for Google’s semiconductor TPU roadmap.
  • Monitor industry and academic trends in artificial intelligence to align with our roadmaps.
  • Evaluate power, performance, and cost of prospective architectures and subsystems.
  • Collaborate with system and application software engineers to optimize the hardware/software stack.
  • Work closely with design, verification, and validation engineers to realize the architecture.
