Job Description

Main Purpose of Position:

We are seeking a self-motivated student to join our ML Research team in projects centered on Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Image/Video Analytics. The student will contribute to the development of new technology in the area of 3D scene comprehension/reconstruction and spatial AI systems for upcoming robotic surgery platforms. This role presents an exciting opportunity to test your knowledge and skills in a demanding problem-solving environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Insight Extraction: Analyze and extract insights from data acquired from a variety of gastrointestinal procedures.
  • Pipeline Failure Detection: Identify instances of pipeline failure by assessing performance metrics and comparing them to prior datasets.
  • Technical and Algorithmic Focus: Focus on addressing technical and algorithmic challenges relevant to Intuitive's Israeli team, particularly in the application of deep learning and computer vision to the GI medical imaging field.
  • Collaboration with Research Professionals: Collaborate with Research Scientists or Research Software Engineers as a Research Intern, closely assisting with their projects.
  • Ongoing Software Development: Be accountable for continuous software development tasks, including data management, testing, and experiment management.
  • Academic Contributions: Contribute to one or more academic publications, further enhancing our collective knowledge in the field.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

•    Student working towards a Master’s/PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, with at least three semesters until graduation.
•    Deep academic understanding of: Classic computer vision, Statistics, Linear algebra.
•    Practical or academic experience in designing and implementing solutions for computer vision and deep learning applications.
•    Hands-on experience with Python development.
•    Team player 😊
•    Ability to work at least 18 hours per week onsite (Tel Aviv).
