Join Universe Energy as a Machine Perception Engineer

At Universe Energy, we're spearheading a transformative approach in the battery industry by repurposing and infinitely extending battery life. As leaders in battery dismantling and repurposing, our imperative mission focuses on scaling battery reuse as a prime source for the next billion batteries required by 2050.

We leverage state-of-the-art technology including robotics, AI, and acoustic analysis to expedite the dismantling process, providing cost-effective and environmentally friendly battery solutions. Our vision is bold: to lead the creation of zero-impact batteries, facilitating a truly sustainable clean energy revolution.

About the Role: Machine Perception Engineer

The role of a Machine Perception Engineer is critical in our journey. You will be at the heart of our innovation, working on our next-generation cognitive robot, Bonobo. This robot revolutionizes how electric vehicle (EV) batteries are handled, diagnosed, and repurposed, enhancing efficiency and safety significantly.

As a Machine Perception Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing sophisticated computer vision systems from ground-up.
  • Developing machine perception algorithms that enable the Bonobo robot to efficiently diagnose and disassemble EV batteries.
  • Improving and innovating on image analysis and sensor fusion techniques to optimize the dismantling process.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an individual with a robust background in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field alongside a track record of practical and scholarly accomplishments in computer vision, image recognition, and perception systems. Your expertise should ideally encompass:

  • Proven experience in programming in C/C++, Python, and Matlab-Simulink.
  • Advanced skills in developing and implementing machine learning and computer vision algorithms.
  • Experience with sensor technology including RGB, infrared, and laser scan systems.
  • Capability to create and manage large datasets for machine learning training.

Stand Out by Demonstrating

Your ability to influence the field through academic publications, patents, or contributions to open-source communities will set you apart. Experience with LIDAR, RADAR, and autonomous vehicles' sensor data alongside an aptitude for 3D graphics and real-time simulation platforms like Unity3D or Unreal Engine will be highly regarded.
